SPEAK TO YOUR STYLIST

Have you ever slapped on a fake smile, blinked away tears and told a hairdresser “I love it”, only to sob your heart on the moment you get in the car? Hairstylist Anthony Nader gives his top three tips to prevent this scenario.

PREPARE YOUR SCREENSHOTS

“Visuals should be a no-brainer and are often hard to misconstrue,” Nader says. “But if you want to keep your hairdresser on your side, share a few pics and not a dozen. You want to keep their trust and creativity intact.”

BE HONEST

“If they haven’t fulfilled your dream cut or colour, then let them know immediately and while you’re still in the chair. Often it can be corrected on the spot or addressed accordingly. They won’t be offended.”

REMEMBER HAIRDRESSERS AREN’T MAGICIANS

“Keep in mind that the more drastic your change, the more appointments you may need to correct those boredom driven lockdown cuts. It may be costly. Be gentle with your hairdresser and let them know in advance what you’re are planning. That way they can allocate the proper time and resources, so neither of you are rushed and you can enjoy the experience.
