The right haircut means minimal to zero styling for you, just wash, add product and go!”

For those not looking to mix up their style too much, but still want a style that packs a punch, Nader suggests looking to Lily Collins’ for style inspo. “[Lily Collins] went from glam girl to cool girl just by her hairdresser, adding in worn-in looking cut soft bangs and chunky shorter layers framing her face. I’ve always been a fan of this haircut because I know so many women who think they can’t have fun with their long hair, so it stays all one length, this isn’t the case, and far from it,” Nader tells ELLE Australia. Just look toward layers of varying lengths to add dimension and interest to your cut, Nader suggets. “[Lily Collins’] new haircut shows that you can still maintain all the length you want, but now you can introduce shorter pieces throughout the haircut to add dimension and texture,” he explained, adding, “This haircut is also endless fun for styling in different ways.”

What better time is there to try out a risqué cut than winter? So, if you’ve had your eye on the humble fringe—even a baby one à la Zoë Kravitz—then Tua believes it’s time to give it a go. “What better time to try out bangs (a fringe) than the cooler months? Whether it be longer curtain bangs, or a more solid, blunt look; bangs can be worn on any hair type and at any hair length,” she told ELLE Australia. “Find some inspo pics to take to your next appointment and ask your stylist which type best suits your face shape and lifestyle—whether low maintenance or high. A longer curtain look is less upkeep, while a blunter look will require regular trims.”
The Classic Bob

Thinking of a bob this winter? Look no further than emulating Alexa Chung’s, Nader said. “This haircut has movement volume, it looks lived in from the start, and it is just such a cool, understated hair shape that doesn’t need the bells and whistles… this haircut is complete confidence from the start,” he told ELLE Australia. “Don’t be afraid to have a few more inches lopped off this coming season, and your haircut will have longevity more so now that it will be shorter and, dare I say, chicer.” The key to styling, he says, is to do as little as possible (sign us up). “If you overwork the hair too much with smoothed out waves, you could look older than what you may want to look,” he continued. “Keep your Autumn/Winter bob clean and crisp on the ends, and make sure you see your hairstylist religiously every six weeks.”

Cool Bronde

When it comes to a change of hue, winter is the perfect time to experiment, especially for those tempted to go darker. “Change up your blonde and give your tresses a break from the bleach,” Tua tells ELLE Australia. “Cool Bronde can be achieved during the cooler months by toning down existing highlights to your desired level of darkness,” she explains. But for those afraid of how to explain the look to their hair stylist, it doesn’t have to be so complicated. “Ask your stylist to use a Gloss or Liquid Demi as these add maximum shine and moisture to lightened hair. Bronde requires zero maintenance and will gradually lighten out, just in time for your blonde refresh on the summer months,” she suggests.
Platinum Blonde

If you’re interested in going lighter rather than darker, then perhaps the platinum trend is for you, Nader suggests. “[Gigi Hadid] is another famous model that took us all by surprise when she showcased her newly platinum long mane as seen on the Burberry runway in London,” Nader explains, adding that “not a trace of her natural dirty blonde colour topped with natural brown roots”. But with platinum hair comes commitment, and Nader warns that this isn’t a look for those afraid of maintenance. “I’m all for big changes but just be very mindful of the upkeep and, of course, how much money you are going to have to invest, keeping your platinum mane ‘platinum’ and without an inclining of unwanted warmth poking through from roots to ends, he said. “The other positive about having your hair coloured this neutral shade is your complexion will always appear glowing and healthy.”

Copper Brunette

Listen, there’s always one person who wants a dramatic colour change, but can’t quite commit immediately. Luckily, this winter will see more transitional hues reign supreme, according to Tua. “Copper has been the hottest shade of the last few seasons and this brunette variation is a great way to spice up lacklustre hair,” she explains. “For the most flattering result, ask your stylist to use a semi-permanent or gloss that matches your natural base level.” “If you’re feeling adventurous, going one to two shades darker than your natural base will achieve the most rich luxe brunette,” she says. Thankfully, maintenance for this ‘do isn’t too difficult, just as long as you have the right products on hand. “To maintain the copper and prevent colour fade, ask your stylist for a customised copper shampoo or conditioner that will maintain the pigment at home.”
True Copper

Last but not least, comes one of the most popular hair colours to come from 2022—true copper. Nader believes that the trend still has legs, in fact, the warmer shade is far from ‘over’. “[Kendall Jenner] took us all by surprise (once again) when she debuted her new copper hair colour at Paris Fashion Week just recently,” he told ELLE Australia. “This colour is so obtainable that anyone with a dark base like [Kendall Jenner’s] knows that they can venture over to the warmer shade in confidence,” Nader says. But of course, with every great colour transformation comes commitment. And in this case, that comes up fairly often. “It’s a no-brainer but be mindful that you may have to see your hair colourist every 5-7 weeks for that root touch up and colour gloss to freshen up, so you look runway ready,” Nader explains. “Warm, full-bodied pigment tones will be huge this Autumn/Winter. It’s perfect for women who want a change and are not afraid of taking the plunge.”
