Anthony Talks This Summer’s Haircut Trends with Elle Australia
The Pixie Cut
Anthony Nader, Celebrity and Editorial hairstylist, founder of Sydney’s RAW Hair:
Chopping your tresses into a bob cut could sound daunting, but for some, it might not be enough. And Nader agrees that a short, pixie-style crop is another trend to keep an eye on this summer, especially after Emma Watson debuted hers—and broke the internet all at the same time.
“What a dream to see Emma back with her short crop that looks absolutely stunning,” Nader says.
But what makes Emma’s new ‘do so highly coveted is how the cut has been mastered.
“The key when you have a short haircut is making sure your hairdresser doesn’t cut in any blunt solid lines and only textured and soft edges,” he recommends. “This is what makes this haircut so beautifully feminine.”
As you’d expect, a pixie-style cut isn’t the easiest to maintain, unless you’re ready to grow it out, of course.
“Only downside going this short is making sure you make your hair appointment every 6-7 weeks to keep it looking chic.”

The Side Fringe
Anthony Nader, Celebrity and Editorial hairstylist, founder of Sydney’s RAW Hair:
If you’re looking to elevate your look without messing with your base cut, then perhaps a fringe could be the way to go.
“The perfect role model for someone that has long straight hair and craves a little something to add spark around the face,” Nader tells ELLE Australia.
You might think that adding a fringe will only make maintenance more troublesome, but Nader believes otherwise—letting it grow out can look just as chic.
“Ask your hairdresser to add a splice of a side fringe that sweeps ever so soft over to one side,” he suggests. “It’s cheeky and sexy and will grow out effortlessly and fun for Spring Summer with styling options.”

The Blunt Cut
Anthony Nader, Celebrity and Editorial hairstylist, founder of Sydney’s RAW Hair:
If the sound of a bob cut piques your interest, then opting for a blunt cut could take the look even further. For Nader, he took a particular interest in Millie Bobby Brown’s recent chop, crediting it for the spark in the trend.
“Millie’s blunt jawline bob turned a lot of heads when she posted her new trademark cut on Insta this past SS22,” he says.
But the magic behind the Stranger Things star’s bob is the sharp way that it’s been finished. Nader believes that this decision of a blunt edge gave the cut a younger, more “cool” vibe.
“It’s the “blunt” edges that make her bob look runway and cool. Whereas if the ends were curved under (in) it would have more of a glam/older look.”
“I love the blunt edge so much,” he says. “So many of my salon clients and models on set have asked me to cut in Millie’s bob.”
